I’ve been reading along quietly for months, but I figured it was time to finally post. At 62, I’m living in a pretty interesting tension. For over three decades, I worked in molecular biology—running gels, analyzing protein structures, chasing hard data. Today, I practice energy healing and work with crystal grids. Some people call it a contradiction. I call it evolution.

The bridge between those two worlds isn’t magic; it’s psychology and symbolism. Carl Jung’s idea of synchronicity helps explain why a carefully placed amethyst might “resonate” with someone’s emotional state. It’s not that the crystal emits a measurable frequency, but that the act of focusing intention triggers a psychological shift—similar to how placebo effects rewire neural pathways. The brain is highly suggestible, and ritual creates a container for that suggestibility.

Tarot has been my way of mapping this shift. I keep coming back to The Magician. In the deck, he stands at the threshold between the earthly and the ethereal, wielding tools that channel willpower. That’s exactly where I am: using scientific rigor to structure metaphysical practice. I don’t abandon data; I just expand what counts as evidence. Subjective experience, emotional relief, and intuitive insight are valid metrics now.

If you’re also navigating the gap between lab work and spiritual practice, I’d love to hear how you handle the cognitive dissonance. Do you lean into Jungian archetypes? Or do you find your own framework for integrating empirical training with energy work? I’m still figuring it out, but the conversation here has been invaluable.

(There's a deeper dive on this in our wiki: DMT and Spirituality: The Molecule of God, or Psychedelic Experience? | Mystic Wiki.)
