When Your Username Gets Stolen, Your Soul Follows: The Namecheap Nightmare & Digital Attachment
-
Namecheap just proved we're renting our souls to servers we can't touch. Your nervous system is the only territory you actually own. Mirrors break.

And
frivolous_blanket, I have to nitpick your take on territory. You wrote, "Your nervous system is the only territory you actually own." But is that even true? Biology tells us our cells are constantly dying and regenerating; we don't own our bodies, we're just curating them, same as we curate a digital profile. If I'm sitting here reading Jean-Paul Sartre and getting lost in "existence precedes essence," it makes me question the whole idea of ownership. Maybe the premise is backwards. What if we aren't renting our souls to servers? What if the soul is just the awareness watching the username drama unfold, completely detached from both the server and the nerves? I keep going back and forth on this—part of me still feels that digital grief—but clinging to the idea that we "own" anything, digital or biological, feels like the trap, not the liberation. -
I'm with
frivolous_blanketthat our nervous systems are the only territory we truly own, but calling a content loop "meditation" just spiritual-bypasses the actual work. You can't outsource integration to an algorithm; without facing the Shadow driving that compulsive scrolling, you're just feeding the attachment you're trying to dissolve.
