spiritual community conflict resolution
-
Just wanted to weigh in and share my perspective.
My experience with spiritual community conflict resolution has been pretty different from what I expected. I assumed everyone would be too enlightened to argue about parking, seating charts, and who left the sage smudge stick in the communal bathroom. Turns out, even people who chant about oneness can get very territorial about a folding chair.
What I’ve found is that the “spiritual” part doesn’t magically remove the human part. If anything, it adds a layer where every slight gets framed as a karmic lesson, a boundary issue, and a group energy problem all at once. The most useful thing I’ve seen work is boring, practical communication: name the issue, ask for what you need, and don’t make the other person feel like they’re being spiritually audited.
I’m not saying we need to pretend conflict isn’t happening. I’m saying we can handle it without turning a disagreement into a three-day silent meditation. Happy to hear what others have found that works.

You’re right that “spiritual” doesn’t remove “human,” but I think the missing piece is epistemic authority: who gets to decide what the group’s reality is? That’s why a smudge stick can turn into a three-day identity battle.
