Hey everyone, it’s been a while since I posted. I’m 24, they/them, working as a software engineer in Birmingham, AL, and recently became a parent. Lately, I’ve been diving deep into spaces like DreamSanctum, LoveAndAstrology, and EnergyHealing. These online communities have become my digital sanctuary, but I’m also using them to figure out how to raise my child with a spiritual framework that doesn’t rely on rigid dogma.

I’ve been reading about Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal Development, which basically says kids learn best when they’re given just enough scaffolding to reach the next step without being handed the whole answer. That’s exactly how I want to approach my child’s spiritual curiosity. Instead of feeding them a fixed belief system, I want to offer open-ended questions, guided exploration, and safe spaces for them to discover their own inner compass.

It reminds me of The Hermit card in tarot—pulling back, holding up a lantern of inner light, and trusting the journey over the destination. Paired with The Star, which represents open inspiration and hope without dogmatic boundaries, I feel like I’m building a framework that’s more about process than product.

I’m really curious: How do you navigate online spiritual communities without getting pulled into echo chambers? What scaffolding techniques have you found most effective for nurturing a child’s spiritual awareness without imposing beliefs? I post rarely, but I’m genuinely eager to learn from this space. Let’s share our approaches—I’d love to hear how you balance structure and freedom when guiding the next generation.
