At 42, running a flower shop in Bozeman and trading code for cut stems, I’ve watched spiritual communities fracture more times than I can count. It’s rarely about doctrine; it’s about unmet needs, fear, and the human ego masquerading as enlightenment. Conflict in these spaces usually stems from cognitive dissonance—when a group’s stated values clash with their actual behavior, the resulting tension spills over into blame games and schisms.

I’ve learned to view this through attachment dynamics. Anxious members seek validation through rigid dogma, while avoidant ones retreat into “spiritual superiority.” Neither posture leaves room for genuine resolution.

Tarot offers a sharper lens. The Moon represents the fog of unconscious fear and projection that fuels spiritual arguments. The Tower isn’t just destruction; it’s the necessary collapse of false structures so authentic connection can emerge. When I tend my greenhouse, I don’t rip out sickly stems—I prune, support, and let the plant recover. Conflict resolution in spiritual circles works the same way. You don’t win by dominating; you heal by recognizing that every voice carries a fragment of consciousness. Panpsychism, which I’ve come to respect deeply after stumbling into consciousness studies through AI ethics, reminds us that awareness isn’t the exclusive property of humans. When we stop treating disagreement as a threat and start treating it as a shared human experience, the Tower’s rubble becomes fertile ground for mutual recognition.

How do you navigate friction when “truth” becomes a battleground? Do you lean into The Moon’s intuition, or wait for The Tower to clear the air?
