Look, I've been dipping my toes in the spiritual waters for years now. Out here in Tucson, the desert sun keeps you grounded. I work as a midwife, and I've been sober for five years. Recovery taught me one hard truth: you can't just "love and light" your way out of trauma. You have to face the ugly parts.

I used to scroll through those online groups where everyone's just posting sunsets, crystals, and toxic positivity. But let's be brutally honest: it's often spiritual bypassing. Psychology calls it anxious attachment—clinging to a curated, safe little bubble because the real world feels too threatening. You're not actually connecting; you're just avoiding your shadow.

Tarot spells this out perfectly. The Moon card doesn't lie. It represents illusion, fear, and the subconscious depths we try to hide from. When a community only focuses on the "light," they're actively ignoring the Moon. Real growth happens in the dark. That's why I lean into The Hermit energy now. Solitude isn't lonely isolation; it's where you actually meet yourself.

As a midwife, I've held hands through real pain and delivery, not just chakra alignments. You learn that struggle is part of the process. Sober life taught me the same: you can't affirm away an addiction. You have to do the shadow work. I'm tired of the glitter and the echo chamber.

How do you all navigate this? How do you find a community that doesn't just skim the surface? I want real talk, not just incense and affirmations. Drop your takes below.
