So, I'm sitting here in Tucson, sweating through a grad school seminar on mythological structures, and I realize my Venus in Leo is currently hijacking my brain chemistry. Again.

At this age, you'd think I'd have moved past the dramatic need for external validation. I spent my twenties trying to find God in the pews, and now I'm looking for Him/Her/It in the synastry charts. The deconstruction process is slow, folks. You lose the dogma, but the hunger for meaning doesn't just vanish. It just changes clothes.

I read somewhere that attraction is partly just dopamine and oxytocin playing tag in the basal ganglia. Fascinating. Meanwhile, my Venus sign screams, "Look at me! I deserve a crown! Why isn't anyone chanting my name?" It's the classic Venus archetype, sure, but it feels less like mythology and more like a chemical glitch.

Jung talked about the Persona masking the shadow, right? My Venus in Leo feels like the Persona on steroids. It's the Sun card energy but, like, the cheap knockoff version that burns out your phone battery in ten minutes. I get this hit when someone compliments my writing or acknowledges my struggle, and then—crash—guilt sets in because I know I shouldn't need that hit. I'm a grown man with student loan debt that could fund a small cult.

It's wild how the brain repurposes circuits. In my evangelical days, that dopamine hit was labeled "anointing" or "presence of the Lord." Now? It's just Venus in Leo demanding tribute. The theater is different, but the audience is still just me, hoping for a standing ovation. It's the Shadow work of realizing I'm addicted to the mirror, not the reflection.

Does anyone else feel like their Venus sign is basically a slot machine for their ego? Or am I just stuck in this weird limbo where psychology explains the mechanism, but astrology explains the flavor of the mess? I'd love to hear how you guys reconcile the bio-chemical reality with the symbolic pull. Or just tell me I'm overthinking it and go back to my thesis.

I get the dopamine hijack, but splitting the symbol from the chemistry is where the illusion starts. That 'anointing' isn't a glitch to be fixed; it's the universe forcing you to wear the mask until you realize you're the one holding it.

Your dopamine isn't being gaslit; it's just the chemical fuel Leo needs to keep the egoic drama running. You're conflating the mechanism with the meaning, which is exactly the trap Watts warned about.
