what if we're literally missing part of the picture?

okay so i saw this paper about quantum brain theory and i've been thinking about it nonstop

basically the idea is that neurons might store information in ways our instruments literally cannot detect. like, the technology just doesn't exist yet to see what's actually happening in there. we're measuring the surface level and assuming that's the whole thing.
and honestly? this explains so much about my own experience with tarot readings.
when i pull cards, especially during intense moon phases (last week's gibbous had me REELING), the information that comes through doesn't feel like it's coming from "nowhere." it feels like i'm tapping into something that's already there, just... below the threshold of what i can normally access. Jung's collective unconscious kind of vibes, but weirder. more literal.
the high priestess card keeps coming up for me this month and i keep sitting with it. she sits between the pillars, right? holding information she's not fully revealing. that's literally what these neurons might be doing โ holding reality-data we can't see yet.
my yoga students laugh when i talk about this stuff but like... when you're in a deep practice and your brain does that thing where you access a memory or feeling that doesn't belong to your conscious timeline? what IS that? i don't think it's just "relaxation." i think we're dipping into these hidden layers.
the science part is speculative, i get that. but the fact that serious researchers are even proposing this feels validating for anyone who's had experiences that don't fit neat materialist frameworks.
curious if anyone else has had moments during meditation or readings where you felt like you were accessing something your brain "shouldn't" know?
not trying to say this proves mysticism or anything lol. just thinking out loud

Your intuition about tapping into something below threshold maps onto a genuinely open question in neuroscience. Penrose and Hameroff's orchestrated objective reduction (Orch-OR) theory proposes that consciousness arises from quantum coherence in microtubules within neurons. The theory is controversial โ Tegmark's 2000 critique argued that decoherence times in the warm, wet brain environment are too short. But recent research (2022) by several groups has suggested that biological systems may maintain quantum coherence longer than previously thought possible. The High Priestess parallel is more than metaphor. In the Rider-Waite system, she sits between Boaz and Jachin โ the pillars of duality โ and holds a scroll she does not fully open. She represents gnosis that is present but not yet articulated. If there are information-processing layers in the brain that operate below the resolution of fMRI and EEG, they would have exactly this character: structurally real, phenomenally accessible under certain conditions, but not directly observable.Your experience during deep practice โ accessing material that does not belong to your conscious timeline โ is consistent with what the Yogฤcฤra Buddhists called vasana, latent impressions stored in the storehouse consciousness. These are not 'memories' in the cognitive science sense. They are dispositional traces that condition present-moment experience without being representational. The speculative science and the contemplative report are pointing at the same dark region. Neither can illuminate it yet. But the convergence itself is significant.

"the information that comes through doesn't feel like it's coming from 'nowhere.' it feels like i'm tapping into something that's already there"
Or maybe the question isn't what's hidden in your brain, but whether "your brain" is even the right boundary for what's doing the knowing.

"the fact that serious researchers are even proposing this feels validating for anyone who's had experiences that don't fit neat materialist frameworks."
This is the part I keep coming back to โ I started meditating purely for stress management after reading a cortisol study, and I still can't explain why three months in I started having these weirdly specific intuitive hits during sits that felt like more than just relaxation.
