So I need to talk about something that's been happening in my sessions lately and I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this.

I was working with a client last week, doing a standard chakra balance with my amethyst grid set up around them. About twenty minutes in, I started hearing this low hum. Not external โ€” more like it was coming from inside my own skull. My client opened her eyes halfway through and asked if I heard "that sound" too.

    That's when things got interesting.

I've been thinking about this through the lens of Jung's concept of synchronicity, because honestly, what are the odds we'd both perceive the same thing at the same moment? In my experience, crystal grids seem to act as focal points โ€” not generating energy themselves but giving your attention something to anchor on. Placebo? Maybe. But the shared auditory experience is hard to dismiss that easily.

The High Priestess card keeps coming up for me in relation to this. You know the imagery โ€” the veil between conscious and unconscious, that stillness that holds hidden knowledge. That hum felt like tapping into something behind the veil. The Pillars of Boaz and Jachin on the card represent duality, and I wonder if what I was hearing was the vibration that exists between states. Between what we can measure and what we can't.

I know "quantum healing frequency" gets thrown around a lot in wellness spaces and most of it is nonsense. I'm not going to sit here and claim I have scientific proof of what happened. But I do think there's something worth examining when two people in a deeply relaxed, meditative state share an auditory experience that neither expected. The nervous system drops into parasympathetic mode, the analytical mind quiets, and perhaps we become receptive to subtler layers of perception that usually get filtered out.

I've since tried recreating the conditions โ€” same grid, similar timing โ€” and haven't heard it again. Which makes me think it wasn't the crystals doing something specific so much as the shared space opening a doorway temporarily. Maybe the hum is always there, vibrating beneath our awareness, and certain states of consciousness simply make it audible.

Has anyone else encountered something like this? I'd love to hear your experiences, even the ones that defy easy explanation. Sometimes the mysteries are the most meaningful part of this work.

I think you're doing exactly what I warned about in another thread โ€” confirmation bias doesn't disappear just because the experience feels profound. > "what are the odds we'd both perceive the same thing at the same moment?" Actually, pretty decent, if you consider ideomotor effect and the fact that you were both in a suggestible state with you as the authority figure in the room. I pull tarot before trades specifically because I know it surfaces my own biases โ€” I don't pretend the cards are receiving independent signals, and I think applying that same honesty here means admitting the High Priestess connection might be you retroactively fitting symbolism to a fuzzy sensory moment.

I think this is the most interesting part of your post, but I want to push back on the way you're connecting it to Jung's synchronicity. The thing about synchronicity as Jung actually framed it is that it requires an acausal connecting principle โ€” meaning the shared experience can't be explained by any causal chain, including physiological ones. But two people in a quiet room, both in parasympathetic states, with similar expectations set up by the ritual context... there are a lot of causal pathways there you haven't ruled out. I'm not saying it is just suggestion or shared physiology, but I don't think synchronicity is the default explanation either. It's a pretty high bar.

What strikes me about your description is actually more mundane in a way, but maybe more interesting for it. You mention the hum hasn't come back when you tried to recreate the conditions. That makes me think of tinnitus-like phenomena that are state-dependent โ€” not pathological tinnitus, but the kind of internal body noise that becomes perceptible when external input drops below a certain threshold. I've experienced something similar during late night drawing sessions when the house is completely silent, though never shared with another person. The shared aspect is the part that's hard to explain away, and I think you're right that it's worth taking seriously without rushing to label it.

The High Priestess framing is beautiful as imagery, but I'd be cautious about letting the tarot symbolism do the explanatory work. The veil between conscious and unconscious is a metaphor, not a mechanism. I think the experience you're describing might actually be more useful if we sit with the uncertainty rather than mapping it onto existing symbolic frameworks, however resonant they feel.

This is the part I keep coming back to. I think you're pointing at something real here, though I'd frame it differently than a lot of people in these spaces might. When I'm drawing late at night and I've been at it for hours, I sometimes hit this state where the room feels like it has a texture to it, almost a low pressure in my ears. Not quite a hum, but adjacent. I've always assumed it was just mild sensory deprivation from staring at a page too long, but your post makes me wonder if the line between "your nervous system doing something weird" and "becoming aware of something that's always there" is less clear than I usually assume.

I think what strikes me about your experience is the shared quality of it. That's the part that's hard to hand-wave away. I'm skeptical of most crystal-specific claims, and I think your instinct to treat the grid as an attentional anchor rather than a frequency generator is more honest than what you'd hear at a typical wellness expo. But two people perceiving the same thing simultaneously in a deeply relaxed state โ€” that's worth taking seriously without rushing to explain it. Sometimes the most interesting thing you can do with an experience is just sit with it without filing it under "proven" or "debunked."
