I only tried the app from my little studio in Lisbon after a long week of cutting roses and humming. It promised to scan a photo and give an “aura profile” — colors, dominant frequencies, even a compatibility reading. Since I’ve had synesthesia for as long as I can remember, I was curious. Sound gives me shapes and colors, so the idea of a face becoming a palette felt less like pseudoscience and more like a strange mirror.

I took the photo in soft light, no filters, and the app returned a swirl of deep indigo, grey, and a thin line of gold. It called me “intuitive but guarded” and said my “frequency” was high. I laughed, then got a little annoyed. High frequency? I work with flowers, not crystals. But the color mapping did something to me: the indigo reminded me of a low cello drone, the gold of a high violin overtone. That’s not proof of anything, just my brain doing its usual cross-wiring.

What I’m suspicious of is how the app turns ambiguity into personality. It gives you broad, flattering language that you can agree with, which is classic confirmation bias. You see a swirl and your mind wants to make it mean something. Jung would probably have called this projection: we project inner states onto a form, and the form feels like it’s projecting back. In tarot terms, it’s a lot like the Moon — beautiful, foggy, and full of things you’re ready to see. Not evil. Just easy to misread.

I’m not dismissing the whole thing. If an AI can help someone notice a mood pattern, a blockage, or a creative direction, that’s useful. What I don’t trust is the part where it starts naming chakras, frequencies, and “energetic signatures” as if they’re measurable. I’d love to know what the developers actually trained the model on. Was it color theory? Facial expression? User feedback loops? A tarot deck? Because if it’s mostly vibes and feedback, then it’s a mirror, not a diagnostic tool.

So my question to anyone who’s used one: did the reading feel specific enough to be useful, or generic enough to apply to anyone? And if it did feel specific, did you test it against something real — a week of behavior, a creative project, a relationship pattern? I’m still deciding whether I want to call it a toy, a ritual object, or a very shiny The Hermit.

      “very shiny The Hermit”

I’d call it a shiny mirror until we ask who gets to define “high frequency.” If it centers individual glow without asking whose labor built the aura, it’s bypassing with a UI.
