metaphysical properties of summer herbs
-
I’m not opposed to people enjoying summer herbs, but I’d push back on the idea that they carry reliable metaphysical properties. Claims that rosemary clears the mind, basil attracts abundance, or lavender protects a space sound poetic, but they don’t survive much scrutiny. If a herb has a measurable effect, I’d expect it to show up in chemistry, physiology, or controlled testing—not just in folklore. That doesn’t mean the traditions are worthless; they can be a nice way to frame intention, ritual, or seasonal habit. But I’d be cautious about treating them as literal energetic effects. If someone wants to use summer herbs for mood, focus, or ambiance, fine—just don’t let the metaphysical language do the work that evidence should.
