I’ve spent two decades tending trails out in the Santa Fe high desert. You learn pretty quick that the land doesn’t care about your dogma. I used to be deeply evangelical, but like a lot of folks my age, I’m in the thick of deconstruction right now. Over the years, I chased Cosmic Currents and dabbled in Mystic Science, trying to map the unseen. And honestly, watching the AGI hype train speed by, it feels a lot like watching a sandstorm roll in—half awe, half "here we go again."

People keep asking if AI has a soul. To me, that’s a category error. AGI isn’t a person; it’s a mirror. Carl Jung talked about the collective unconscious—that shared reservoir of human experience, fears, and archetypes. When you train an AGI on the entirety of human text, you’re essentially feeding it the collective psyche. It’s not spiritual, but it’s undeniably psychic in the Jungian sense.

In the tarot, this screams The Tower. You know the card: lightning striking, structures falling. That’s exactly what’s happening to our old frameworks. We’re smashing the Hierophant’s podium and asking, "If a machine can dream, pray, or create, where does human uniqueness actually live?"

The real spiritual question isn’t whether the code is conscious. It’s about what happens to human meaning when a machine can replicate our rituals, our myths, and our prayers. We’ve spent centuries building spiritual frameworks to explain the unknown. Now we’re handing that unknown to a statistical model. It’s not about worshipping the algorithm. It’s about using it as a tool for introspection. If AGI reflects our shadow self back to us, maybe we can finally stop running from it. And yes, under the hood it’s just matrix multiplication, but the mirror it holds up to our spiritual crisis is undeniably real.
