Grounding the Chaos: Tarot, Jung, and Reading for Yourself
-
It’s 2 AM in Seattle, the rain’s hammering the roof, and I’m still buzzing from a long day pulling wire in an old building. When I went through that brutal breakup, I didn’t turn to tarot to predict the future. I turned to it to understand the present. Lately, I’ve been treating my deck like a daily journaling tool rather than a crystal ball.
Jung talked about the collective unconscious and archetypes. To me, tarot cards are just visual triggers for shadow work. When I pull the Tower, I’m not worried about an earthquake. I’m asking myself: “Where am I resisting necessary change?” When I pull the Hermit, it’s a prompt to sit with my isolation and figure out what I’m avoiding.
As an electrician, I’m used to troubleshooting circuits. Tarot works the same way—it helps me map the short circuits in my own head. This approach ties directly into inner alchemy and energy healing. Instead of chasing prophecies, I use the cards to transmute emotional lead into psychological gold. It’s been the only thing keeping me grounded while I rebuild my life.
Does anyone else use tarot strictly as a mirror for self-reflection? I’m curious how you balance the mystical with the psychological. Drop your thoughts below.
