Hey everyone! I see so many of you struggling with the I Ching, and honestly, I was right there with you. As a 20-year-old software engineer living in Manchester, I used to believe every problem demanded a logical fix. But ritual has completely transformed my creative practice. I approach divination less like superstition and more like a debugging session for my soul.

If you're a beginner, here's my take on casting and interpreting. First, keep the method simple. I use three coins—heads for yang, tails for yin. Flip, record the line, and repeat six times to build the hexagram. The mechanics matter less than the quality of your question. Ask something specific and personal. Vague questions yield vague answers.

This is where psychology becomes essential. It's not about predicting the future; it's about Carl Jung's concept of synchronicity—meaningful coincidences that reveal inner truths. When I cast, I'm looking for that resonance. It's similar to how I use Tarot symbolism; both systems draw on archetypes to reflect psychological states. The I Ching hexagrams aren't prophecies; they're mirrors.

To interpret, don't just read the translation. Analyze the symbols. Does the hexagram show conflict, growth, or stillness? Connect it to your current life situation. As a queer artist, I've found these symbols help me process identity and creativity in ways that pure logic can't. The lines often reveal subconscious patterns I wouldn't notice otherwise.

Don't let the 64 hexagrams intimidate you. Start with one casting a day. Treat it as a creative exercise. If you're stuck, revisit the line meanings and ask: "How does this apply to my current project or emotional state?"

Let me know how your casting goes! I'd love to hear what hexagrams show up for you.
