I’ve been sitting with the August 2026 New Moon in Leo, trying to figure out what “intentions” actually mean when you’re a backend developer who spends hours debugging code and hours overanalyzing everything. Leo energy is usually about creativity, self-expression, and stepping into the spotlight. But honestly? My default setting is probably “hide in the server room.”

I keep reading about how New Moons are for planting seeds. From a psychological angle, I feel like this mirrors what James Marchand explores in mindfulness work: the gap between intention and habit. I’ve tried three different meditation apps. I usually stick with them for maybe a week, then life happens. Perhaps it’s just my perfectionism getting in the way. If I miss a day, the whole streak breaks, and I quit. It’s a classic overthinking trap.

In Tarot, Leo resonates with Strength and The Chariot. I think Strength isn’t about brute force; maybe it’s about gentle persistence. The Chariot represents directed will. When I look at the cards, I wonder if my “intention” for this Leo New Moon is just to stop treating mindfulness like a corporate KPI. Perhaps it’s okay to be inconsistent. Maybe the intention isn’t “meditate 30 mins daily” but “notice when I’m spiraling into analysis paralysis.”

I’ve started keeping a physical notebook instead of relying on apps. I write down one sentence about how I feel, one small win, one thing I’m overcomplicating. It’s not perfect, but I think it’s mine. If Leo’s energy is about owning your story, maybe my story right now is just a tired dev learning that progress isn’t linear. I’m still figuring it out, but I feel like letting go of the streak mentality might be the real intention.

What’s your take? Do you treat New Moon intentions like a checklist, or do you just flow with them?
