At 45, I’m finally unpacking a lifetime of spiritual whiplash. Leaving the evangelical world wasn’t just a lifestyle change—it was a total systemic collapse. Living in Austin, balancing late-night grad school stress with a deep hunger for authentic spirituality, I’ve been using astrological transits, Jungian psychology, and tarot to map the trauma healing process.

The current Pluto transit has been a brutal but necessary mirror. Pluto doesn’t do “surface level.” It forces you to stare directly at your shadow. Jung called this the process of individuation—integrating the repressed, dark parts of the psyche until you become whole. When a Pluto transit hits, it’s like the alchemical nigredo phase: everything turns black, falls apart, and rots before it can be refined into something gold. It’s uncomfortable, but the pressure is what forges resilience.

Tarot has been my vocabulary for this. When my old belief structures imploded, I kept pulling The Tower. It’s not just about disaster; it’s about the divine demolition of false foundations. Paired with the Death card, it clarified that trauma healing isn’t about “getting over it”—it’s about letting the old self die so something authentic can emerge. The Hermit card showed up constantly, reminding me that real deconstruction requires solitude, honest introspection, and the courage to sit with the discomfort. You have to walk through the fire to find the alchemy.

I’m learning that trauma recovery is an alchemical fire. The pain is the catalyst.

Has anyone else felt their belief systems completely dismantle during a major planetary shift? How did you navigate the shadow work?
