I’ll be blunt: the phrase “Leo season activation” sounds like a crossover between tech startup jargon and astrology. As a customs officer and veteran, I’ve seen enough spiritual marketing to know when someone’s selling snake oil. But I also meditate daily, and after years of wrestling with PTSD, I’ve found that joy isn’t a magical switch you flip—it’s a cognitive practice.

That said, I don’t dismiss the frameworks. Barbara Fredrickson’s Broaden-and-Build theory actually backs up the psychological reality of joy meditation. Joy literally expands your attentional capacity, builds resilience, and rewires trauma responses. When I first joined legal psychedelic trials, the combination of guided visualization and consistent meditation helped me reclaim a sense of agency. It wasn’t about “activating” a season; it was about training the brain to default to open awareness.

In tarot, Leo’s energy maps cleanly to The Sun card—vitality, clarity, and unforced joy. It’s a powerful symbolic anchor. I often pair this with The Chariot, which represents directed willpower, but only after inner alignment. I’ve found these symbols work best when treated as cognitive scaffolding, not literal magic.

Living in Lisbon, the soft coastal light and slow pace have been crucial for grounding my practice. I’ve also leaned heavily on community spaces like MoonRituals and DreamSanctum, where I’ve met others navigating trauma and spiritual practice.

My challenge to the “activation” hype: you don’t need a planetary transit to feel joy. Joy is available right now. The real work is consistency, not waiting for the stars. That said, if Leo season gives you a psychological nudge to start, take it. But don’t outsource your healing to the zodiac.

What’s your take? Do you lean more toward the psychological mechanism or the mystical framework? I’m curious how others balance the two.
