I’ve been scrolling through TikTok and Instagram lately, and these AI-generated tarot reading apps are absolutely blowing up. You type in a question, it spits out a card and a paragraph of "insight." As a 36-year-old urban planner living in Philly, I’m wired to look at systems, and honestly? These tools are doing exactly what machine learning does: finding statistical correlations and spitting back the most probable output based on your keywords. It’s basically a digital Rorschach test. You see what you need to see, and the algorithm just hands you the inkblot.

I’ve been meditating for five years now, and I spend a lot of time on dream journaling and shadow work. From my experience, tarot doesn’t actually "predict" — it reflects. When I pull The Tower or The Hermit, it mirrors my current internal state. Carl Jung wrote about how symbols act as bridges to the collective unconscious. If the AI is just remixing established archetypes, it’s still giving you a surface to project onto. But here’s where I get skeptical: real insight usually comes with a visceral "click." AI readings feel sterile. They lack the friction of shuffling, the quiet ritual space, the tactile engagement that makes traditional divination feel alive.

Does the medium matter if the mirror works? I’m not sure. I’ve tried one of these apps out of curiosity, and while the output was technically accurate to tarot lore, it felt like reading a summary. No synchronicity. No spark.

So I’m putting this out to the community: have you actually used these AI tarot generators? Did the output ever land with you, or did it just feel like a cheap parlor trick? How do you separate algorithmic pattern-matching from genuine intuitive resonance? I’d love to hear your experiences — especially if you’ve found a way to make the AI feel less robotic.
