I’ve spent thirty years unclogging pipes in Lisbon, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that pressure doesn’t care about your schedule. It builds quietly until something gives. So when I recall reading about that Imperial College London research showing a single twenty-five-minute DMT session producing lasting antidepressant effects, it didn’t surprise me so much as it finally made sense. The clinical data is sitting in peer-reviewed journals now, but what’s really haunting me is the metaphysics of it. How does consciousness untangle itself in the time it takes to boil a kettle?

Back when I was steeped in evangelical circles, healing was sold as a marathon of penance. You paid your dues, decade after decade. But Carl Jung always argued that the psyche has an innate teleology—a built-in compass pointing toward wholeness. I think what these rapid shifts are showing us is that the blockage isn’t the wound itself. It’s the dam. A single catalytic experience can fracture the dam, and the water finally moves. It’s exactly why I keep returning to The Tower in my readings. We spend years bracing for the lightning strike, terrified of the collapse. But the Tower isn’t destruction. It’s the sudden, violent clearing of false structure so the foundation can breathe.

I’m still untangling my own deconstruction, honestly. It’s messy. Some days I feel like I’m wading through wet cement. But sitting with a deck, watching the cards fall, I’ve started to trust that the unconscious doesn’t keep meticulous ledgers. It operates in archetypal time. A twenty-five-minute window might just be the threshold where the ego’s narrative finally yields to something older. The Star card keeps showing up for me lately—water poured slowly from two jugs, restoration after the flood. I don’t claim to know the full mechanics, but my experience suggests that consciousness heals in flashes, not in linear progress.

Does anyone else feel like we’re only just beginning to map how quickly the inner landscape can shift? I’d love to hear what you’re sitting with.
