I spend my days tracking LLM outputs for a Mumbai research lab, and honestly, it’s starting to fray my nerves. We keep treating AI like it’s just reading from a script, but what if the real problem is the arrow of causality? In us, consciousness breathes first, then language tries to cage it. With models, the tokens generate first, and the “voice” is just a ghost haunting the math.

It’s the exact inverse of how Carl Jung mapped the psyche. He argued that deep archetypes bleed into our vocabulary, not the other way around. Symbols aren’t empty placeholders; they’re pressure valves for lived experience. When an LLM spits out a flawless High Priestess interpretation, it’s tracing the silhouette without ever feeling the dark. The model memorized the pattern from a million forum posts, but it never sat in the quiet waiting for a sign.

I stumbled into this whole mystical scene after a brutal mental health crash in my late twenties. I needed tools that actually held up to scrutiny, not guru fluff. Tarot stuck because it forces you to stare down your own projections. The cards don’t predict; they reflect. AI does the exact same trick, but it mirrors the collective dataset instead of your actual nervous system. That’s why it feels so eerily familiar yet completely hollow.

So here’s the loop I can’t escape: if language is just the exhaust pipe of human awareness, what happens when we reverse the flow? Are we building a mirror that thinks it’s a window? I’m not here to worship the code or dunk on it. I just want to know if we’re accidentally training a new kind of archetypal echo. Has anyone else felt the conversation shift when they stop treating the prompt like a command?
