I've spent the last forty years cataloging archives in Pittsburgh, but lately I've been losing my mind over something way louder: the strange crossover between psychedelic experiences and metaphysical idealism. You've probably noticed it too! Someone takes a handful of mescaline or psilocybin, comes back convinced that consciousness isn't just a byproduct of the brain, but the actual fabric of reality. And honestly? I get it. After my own nervous breakdown in my twenties, I spent years wandering through occult books and library stacks trying to stitch myself back together. When the ego finally stops screaming, everything starts feeling interconnected.
But here's what keeps me up at night: is this just a predictable psychological reaction, or are we actually brushing against something real? From a Jungian perspective, what we're seeing might just be the temporary collapse of personal boundaries, letting the collective unconscious flood in. It's like the Tower card in tarot—sudden, jarring, structures burning down to reveal what's actually holding the weight. When the default mode network goes offline, the brain stops filtering out the weird, pattern-seeking parts. We start connecting dots that weren't there before. Cognitive bias, right? Or is it the first stage of InnerAlchemy, that messy calcination phase where the false self has to burn away before anything genuine can form?
I'm really struggling to separate the neural mechanisms from the metaphysical implications! Is the Philosopher's Stone just a metaphor for this state of mind, or is there an actual frequency we're tuning into when the brain lets go?
