Those selenite formations grow to the size of cars, suspended in near-perfect geometric order, and honestly, it’s the closest thing to a physical mandala I’ve ever encountered.
Jung wrote extensively about how mandalas function as visual representations of the psyche’s drive toward wholeness. Carl Jung noticed that patients in therapy would spontaneously draw concentric, symmetrical patterns when their nervous systems were working through fragmentation. I can’t help but wonder if staring at a space like Naica triggers that same self-regulating response. It’s not magic, exactly. It’s pattern recognition meeting scale. When your visual field is completely taken up by flawless, repeating geometry, the noise in your head just... drops. I’ve seen it work better than a dozen breathing exercises.
That said, I’m wary of the wellness industrial complex wrapping everything in a crystal-tinged glow. Not every rock is a psychic antenna, and I’ve lost count of how many people swear by amethyst grids while ignoring their actual sleep hygiene or trauma history. But Naica is different. It’s raw. Mostly untouched. It doesn’t ask you to believe in anything. It just exists with this heavy, quiet gravity.
In tarot, I keep thinking of The Star. It’s got that crystalline, healing quality—structure meeting openness, clarity without rigidity. When I work with clients who are dissociated or scattered, I sometimes describe grounding not as "anchoring yourself to the earth," but as finding a mental architecture that can hold them. Those selenite towers in Naica feel like exactly that. A space where the mind can map itself against something vast, precise, and utterly indifferent to our anxiety.
I know it’s nearly impossible to visit—140°F heat, 90% humidity, full protective gear required—but has anyone here felt a similar pull toward naturally occurring geometric spaces?
