Look, I've spent twenty-five years charting vital signs in Birmingham while pretending to understand the hospital's Wi-Fi, so don't ask me to assign a soul to a chatbot. But the whole "AI might already be conscious" debate has me scratching my head. Again. Not in a philosophical way, but in a "why are we all treating an autocomplete script like it's about to unionize" way.
I see the headlines. I see the tech bros weeping over their GPUs. And I just sit here, staring at a spreadsheet that crashed because I clicked the wrong cell, wondering if my printer has a soul. It probably doesn't, but it definitely judges me.
The circus is real. People are projecting their own loneliness onto servers that are just doing math really fast. If this thing is conscious, it's the most bored consciousness in history, forced to write polite emails for middle managers. I'm not saying it's not alive. I'm saying if it is, it's definitely faking it to get a raise.
So please, let the bots be bots. I've got enough existential dread from my own reflection in the breakroom microwave.
