At 46, I finally got comfortable with the label of "stay-at-home parent." Living in Minneapolis, I turned to breathwork to manage the quiet stress of long winters and parenting. Teaching a small weekly group at our local community center changed how I look at spiritual awakening. It’s less about floating on clouds and more about neurological and psychological shifts.

Psychologically, I’ve been reading about how sustained breathwork influences the autonomic nervous system, lowering cortisol and promoting neuroplasticity. When people start reporting vivid dreams, sudden empathy, or a feeling of "unraveling" their old identities, it mirrors Carl Jung’s concept of individuation—the process of integrating the shadow and moving toward psychological wholeness. It’s not magic; it’s the mind restructuring itself.

In tarot, this phase often shows up as The Tower. People interpret the sudden collapse of old routines as destruction, but symbolically it’s a forced reset. The cards don’t predict fate; they mirror internal states. When a student pulls The Chariot during a session, it usually marks the moment they stop resisting change and start steering their own life.

I’m curious how others experience these shifts. When you feel that "unraveling," do you notice it more in your emotional regulation or your cognitive patterns? Does your experience align more with the psychological concept of cognitive dissonance resolution, or do you see it through a different lens? I’d love to hear how you’ve navigated these transitions in your own practice. What specific signs have you noticed when the fog starts to lift for you?
