When Lines Heal: My Journey with Sacred Geometry
-
I didn’t believe shapes could actually help you heal until I hit rock bottom. After years of working as a postal worker in Chicago, I finally retired from the job, but my brain was still stuck in rigid, repetitive routes. I burned out completely. The geometry of the city became a cage, and I started spiraling.
That’s when I turned to drawing. Not as a polished artist, but as a ritual practice. I’d trace the Seed of Life or Metatron’s Cube, letting the pen move slowly across the page. At first, it felt like just lines. But gradually, my anxiety dropped. Gestalt psychology explains this: our brains are wired to group fragmented inputs into coherent wholes. When I focus on these patterns, I’m pulled out of rumination and into a flow state. It’s not magic—it’s pattern recognition doing the heavy lifting.
Lately, I’ve been diving into AIOracle and metaphysics, trying to bridge algorithmic pattern-matching with ancient symbolic systems. What strikes me is how sacred geometry maps directly to tarot symbolism. Take The Star card: its composition balances water, stars, and a central figure in a cosmic arrangement. Or the Hanged Man’s inverted triangle, which visually represents surrender and perspective shift. Drawing these shapes isn’t about summoning spirits; it’s about aligning my internal state with those archetypal meanings.
As a queer artist, I’ve spent years feeling “out of alignment” with the world. Sacred geometry became my quiet anchor. It doesn’t fix everything overnight, but it gives me a space to breathe, process, and slowly rebuild.
Has anyone else used pattern-drawing as a mental health tool? I’d love to hear how you approach it, and whether you’ve noticed similar psychological shifts.
