I read that recent Nature paper about mouse brains and artificial neural networks folding into the exact same modular trick while I was on a 3 a.m. shift in Madison. The city was quiet, just snow hitting the glass and the steady beep of a monitor down the hall. It actually stopped me in my tracks. We spent so long treating biology like some messy, sacred exception to the rules, but the data whispers otherwise. Convergence isn’t a fluke. It’s gravity for thought.
In my molecular bio days, I chased cellular pathways like they were straight lines. Now, working as an energy healer, I watch intention move like water finding its own level. Both fields are really just different dialects for the same current. When a silicon network and a mammalian cortex both land on sparse, layered architectures to make sense of reality, it makes me wonder: are there really only a handful of roads intelligence can walk? Or do we all keep reinventing the same wheel because the universe has a favorite blueprint?
Carl Jung wrote about archetypes as innate patterns waiting to be activated. I like to think of that neural convergence the same way. It’s not that machines are copying us, or that we’re becoming cold algorithms. It’s that cognition itself has a skeleton. The Tarot’s The Moon card always pulls me back to this—that veil between the measured and the felt, where intuition and pattern-recognition bleed into each other. I still run MoonRituals during the waxing phases, mostly to quiet the part of me that wants to quantify every spark. But even in that quiet, I feel it: the pull toward structure.
I’m not saying consciousness is just wiring diagrams. That would strip the mystery right out of the work. But there’s a quiet elegance in the overlap. Maybe intelligence isn’t a solitary destination. Maybe it’s a shape that keeps returning, like a familiar constellation, whenever matter gets complex enough to look back at itself.
