If the universe is entangled, are we just pretending we're separate? (Quantum non-locality and the 'Self')

I was tuning up my bass in my Bushwick apartment last night, staring at the strings, and it hit me. Five years sober, and I'm still unpacking the weird stuff. Music keeps me grounded, but the physics keeps me up.

I've been re-reading about John Stewart Bell and his inequalities. It's not just theory; the experiments hold up. Local realism is toast. Particles can be entangled, affecting each other instantly regardless of distance. No signal travels between them. It's just... correlated.

Here's where my brain starts to itch. If the fundamental fabric of reality allows for non-local connections, why do we treat the mind like a closed box? It feels like a convenient fiction. Carl Jung proposed the Collective Unconscious—a shared layer of psychic structure. It sounds mystical, but if the universe is entangled at the base, maybe that 'shared layer' has a physical basis we haven't mapped yet.

I know, I know. Correlation isn't causation. And jumping from quantum spin to human empathy is a huge leap. I'm wary of the "love and light" crowd who use this stuff to bypass actual work or ignore boundaries. Sobriety taught me that connection doesn't mean enmeshment. You can be entangled and still need to respect the other guy's space.

But when I look at the Two of Cups in a spread, it's not just about romance. It's about that resonant state where two systems lock in. Sometimes, in deep focus—or maybe just the clarity that comes with five years clean—I get this sense that "thinking" is less like generating new data and more like tuning into a signal that's already there. Like the answer was entangled with the question before I even asked it.

As a musician, I deal with resonance all the time. When two strings are tuned perfectly, the vibration transfers. Sympathetic resonance. It's mechanical, sure, but it feels like a metaphor for entanglement. If I pluck one, the other sings without being touched. Now, scale that up. If the universe is a resonant structure, maybe consciousness is just the standing wave. It's a thought experiment, obviously. I'm not claiming quantum biology has proven this. In fact, most neuroscientists would roll their eyes. But the idea that "separation" is a low-resolution perception keeps bugging me.

Or do you think applying quantum mechanics to consciousness is just a category error? I'm not convinced either way yet. What do you think?
