So I was scrolling through r/spirituality last night and kept seeing this thread about Shoonya meditation. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s this ancient Jain practice that’s basically about sitting in pure, deliberate emptiness. No visualization, no affirmations, no “abundance mindset” nonsense. Just… nothing. And honestly? It hit me like a freight train.

I’ve been tracking my own data habits for months now—sleep, mood, journaling—and I noticed something weird. The harder I tried to “manifest” specific outcomes, the more my anxiety spiked. It’s like my brain got stuck in a confirmation bias loop, only noticing things that matched my desired outcome while ignoring reality. Carl Jung actually talked about this when he discussed projection and how forcing a specific ego-driven goal just amplifies internal friction. Instead of aligning with what actually is, I was just projecting.

That’s where Shoonya clicked for me. It’s the spiritual counter-movement to all the “law of attraction” culture. Instead of adding more, you subtract until you’re left with baseline awareness. I tried it for the first time yesterday—just ten minutes of consciously dropping every mental image, intention, or desire. It felt terrifying at first. My mind kept reaching for a target, like a cursor blinking on a blank spreadsheet. But then it just… settled.

From a tarot perspective, it reminds me so much of the Ace of Swords cut down to zero. You know, when the blade drops and you’re left with pure potential, unshaped by narrative. Or maybe it’s closer to the Moon card—sitting in the fog without trying to force a path through it. I keep wondering if this is why so many practitioners are shifting away from abundance mantras. Are we finally hitting the ceiling of what “wanting” can actually do for us?

I’m running this like an experiment now. Tracking how Shoonya affects my chart transits (yes, I’m cross-referencing it with my actual natal data—precision matters, even in meditation). But I’ve got a ton of questions: Does anyone else practice emptiness-oriented techniques? How long before the mental chatter stops fighting the void? Is this just a phase, or are we seeing a real cultural pivot away from manifestation? I’d love to hear your experiences, especially if you’ve noticed how it interacts with your own spiritual or psychological frameworks. Still figuring this out, but I’m genuinely hooked.
