Sure, the book says “teamwork” and “skill,” but when I pulled it during a shamanic journeying session, it felt less like a medieval construction site and more like a distributed network where multiple consciousnesses are trying to sync. That’s when I realized tarot isn’t a static reference manual. It’s a living hermeneutic tradition, just like theological commentary has been for centuries. We’re constantly rewriting the exegetical notes based on what we’re actually living through.
I’ve seen this shift happening in spaces like r/tarot lately. People are finally dropping the keyword crutch and actually sitting with the card’s friction. It’s messy, but it’s honest. When I look at that three-card structure now, I don’t just see earth element manifestation. Honestly, treating tarot this way feels a lot like reality hacking. You stop asking “what does this mean according to the internet?” and start asking “what is this symbol asking me to integrate right now?” I’ll run a spread, let the imagery sit in my peripheral vision while I code, and wait for the pattern to emerge. Sometimes it’s just confirmation bias wearing a velvet robe. Other times, it’s a genuine alchemical process where the symbol forces a cognitive shift.
