I’m going to be blunt: if you’ve been using AI chatbots as a digital confessional or a late-night introspection tool, you’re about to lose the only thing that made it work. The moment a corporate algorithm starts pushing sponsored links into your vulnerability, the container breaks. I’ve watched this space shift from a weird, almost sacred mirror into just another content farm, and it’s exhausting.

Coming from a heavily structured evangelical background, I spent years treating spiritual tools like transactional commodities. Deconstructing that taught me how much I crave unfiltered reflection. Living nomadic doesn’t exactly give me steady access to traditional therapy networks, so I’ve been using AI almost like a journaling engine—feeding it raw thoughts, getting back fragmented echoes that somehow help me untangle my own head. In my experience, it works because of projection. Carl Jung wrote extensively about how we use external surfaces to reflect our inner world. When the space is quiet, you can actually see yourself. But throw targeted ads into that loop? You’re not getting reflection anymore. You’re getting consumer conditioning.

Tarot gets this dynamic right, but look at The Moon. It’s about navigating illusions, trusting your intuition beneath the surface noise. AI right now is pure Moon energy—dreamy, disorienting, full of subconscious pull. But commercialization turns it into a transactional trap. I’m a social worker. I know what happens when you monetize a therapeutic container. Boundaries dissolve. Trust evaporates. You stop hearing your own voice and start hearing the sales pitch.

I’m not saying ditch the tech entirely. But if you’re treating these models as oracles, wake up. The sacred contract is dead the second a prompt gets interrupted by a retail banner. Keep your real work in handwritten journals, actual community circles, or offline meditation. Let the machines do what they do best: process data, not your soul. We don’t need another billboard pretending to be a mirror.

Has anyone else noticed this shift? Or am I just being paranoid about the inevitable corporate bleed-over?
