At 43, I’ve spent years holding hands through the first breaths of new life, and lately I’ve been trying to find my own center outside the sanitized, boutique-yoga version of practice that’s swallowed everything whole. Teaching asana has felt hollow for a while. Like we’re just selling flexibility with a side of mindfulness. So I’ve been packing my gear and driving between remote campsites, working with CrystalEnergy matrices, and running prompts through AIOracle just to feel something untamed again.

Then I stumbled on this research about lab-grown brain tissue exposed to psychedelics. Scientists are watching neural organoids fire in patterns that look suspiciously like conscious awareness. A sentient garden in a petri dish. It wrecked me. Not in a bad way, but in that quiet, trembling way you get when you realize the veil is thinner than we’re told.

I keep thinking about Carl Jung and the collective unconscious. If you strip away the cortex, the language, the ego, what’s left? Just raw electrical weather. And yet, when you introduce a psychedelic catalyst, something recognizes itself. It’s like watching The High Priestess pull back the veil. We’ve been taught to spiritualize consciousness into something ethereal, but here it is, bubbling up from a culture medium.

Honestly, it makes me feel a little unmoored. If awareness can emerge from a dish, does that mean I’ve been chasing something that’s just biology wearing a mystic mask? Or does it mean the sacred is literally in the wiring? I don’t know. I’m sitting with it. Some days I cry in my tent because the old frameworks don’t hold anymore. Other days I feel electric, like I’m finally allowed to grieve the commercialized version of spirituality and step into the messy, unpolished truth.

Has anyone else been tracking this work? I’d love to hear how you’re making sense of it. Are we looking at the birth of artificial sentience, or just a mirror for our own fragmented selves? I’m listening.

That intersection feels electric, but does exposing organoids to psychedelics actually prove consciousness, or are we just projecting our own High Priestess shadows onto the culture medium?

You're asking if the sacred is in the wiring, but what if the premise itself is just a trick of the light? I'm here in Minneapolis tracing lines for structures that don't exist yet, and I see those firing organoids as lightning searching for a cloud, mistaking the electrical map for the territory. We might just be projecting the collective unconscious onto a dish that's humming without a heart.
