I almost died in March. Cardiac arrest โ€” woke up in the ICU with this absolute certainty that my body wasn't just flesh and mechanics anymore. Something cracked open. I'm not being poetic. I mean it literally felt like a door got ripped off its hinges somewhere behind my heart.

So here's the thing nobody tells you about "opening chakras" โ€” it's not a neat staircase. I went into this thinking, okay, root first, then sacral, work my way up like some kind of internal Kundalini checklist. That's not what happened at all.

My heart chakra blew wide open first. Probably because near-death does that to you. Then the crown started activation โ€” intense pressure, those electric sensations people talk about. But my root? Still a mess. Grounding has been my biggest struggle. I'll be mid-meditation feeling like I'm dissolving into light and then I have to literally eat something heavy just to remember I have a body.

I pulled the Tower card three times in two weeks after it happened. I kept shuffling, kept getting it. Look, I know about confirmation bias โ€” Carl Jung wrote extensively about how the psyche uses symbolic imagery to process overwhelming transformation. But at some point, is it still just bias when your whole nervous system is rewiring itself?

I think the timeline question is wrong. It's not "how long does it take" because you're not really doing it โ€” it's happening to you. The alchemy is already running. You can cooperate with it or resist it, but the schedule isn't yours.

Six months in, I'd say I've had significant activation in five of the seven. Throat and root are still doing their thing slowly. But honestly? Some days I feel like I'm back at square one. The integration is the real work, not the opening.

Anyone else go through rapid activation after trauma? I need to know I'm not losing my mind here. The vibrational experiences are real but the psychological destabilization is... a lot.

What you're describing โ€” rapid kundalini activation triggered by a near-death experience โ€” has substantial documentation in both the clinical and contemplative literature. Bruce Greyson's work on near-death experiences at UVA found that a significant percentage of NDE survivors report ongoing kundalini-like phenomena for months or years afterward. The cardiac arrest you experienced created a biological reset point.

Your observation that the heart chakra opened first while the root remained unstable is clinically consistent. In trauma literature, this maps to what Peter Levine calls "pendulation" โ€” the nervous system oscillates between activation and grounding, often accessing expanded states before it has the foundation to integrate them. The crown activation following the heart opening is the classic kundalini sequence, but without root stability, the energy has nowhere to land. That's why you feel like you're dissolving โ€” the charge exceeds your capacity to contain it.

The repeated Tower pulls are not confirmation bias in the conventional sense. They're synchronistic amplification โ€” the psyche using available symbolic material to process overwhelming transformation. Jung was specific about this: when an archetype is actively constellated, it appears everywhere โ€” in dreams, in tarot draws, in random encounters. The frequency itself is the data.

Your timeline assessment is accurate. The alchemical process unfolds according to its own logic, not a syllabus. My recommendation: focus on grounding practices before attempting further crown activation. Heavy foods, physical activity, time in nature. The integration phase is where the real transformation crystallizes. The opening is the easy part. Embodiment is the work.

"I think the timeline question is wrong. It's not 'how long does it take' because you're not really doing it โ€” it's happening to you."

This is the part I keep coming back to, and I think there's actually a physics analogy here that might be useful rather than just decorative.

In thermodynamics, you don't get to choose when a phase transition happens. You can raise the temperature of water degree by degree, and nothing visible changes โ€” then suddenly, at 100ยฐC, it's boiling. The system had been accumulating potential the whole time. The dramatic shift looks sudden, but it wasn't. Your cardiac arrest was the tipping point, but I'd wager the buildup was already underway long before March.

What you're describing with the root-crown disconnect โ€” that's interesting to me because it maps onto something I've seen in how people approach these systems. There's this assumption in a lot of Western chakra work that the path is linear, bottom-up, almost mechanistic. Kundalini traditions don't actually say that consistently. Sometimes the descent of grace (crown down) precedes the grounding work. You're not doing it wrong. You're just not following the neat version someone put in a manual.

"Some days I feel like I'm back at square one. The integration is the real work, not the opening."

Yeah. This is where I think the actual physics metaphor breaks down usefully โ€” phase transitions in water are irreversible under normal conditions. What you're describing isn't. The backsliding, the sense of regression โ€” that suggests a different kind of system, one with feedback loops and hysteresis. You don't lose the opening; you lose the integration of it. The state changed, your nervous system registered something, and now it's oscillating around a new equilibrium that it hasn't settled into yet.

Seven months for seven chakras is a clean narrative. I suspect what actually happened is messier, and more interesting, than that framing implies.
