so this guy on twitter posted about using AI photogrammetry to recreate a hindu temple and you can walk through it in VR. i threw my quest on expecting nothing. maybe some cool textures.

    instead i literally stopped moving.

the proportions hit different when you're inside them. like your body KNOWS. and i'm someone who stares at fibonacci retracements all day looking for the "hidden math" in bitcoin charts so maybe i'm primed for this but honestly? the fractal self-similarity in those temple layouts, the way the shrines nest inside each other โ€” it's the same recursive pattern. price action, sacred geometry, whatever.

jung talked about archetypes as structural patterns in the collective unconscious. i think sacred architecture is literally archetypal geometry made physical. your nervous system responds before your conscious mind catches up.

here's what messed with me though. in the tower card, you see this structure built on false foundations getting destroyed. but what if the tower isn't just about ego collapse? what if it's about the difference between sacred space โ€” built on real mathematical truth โ€” and everything else we construct that isn't? the tower falls because the proportions are wrong. literally.

i've been to the real temples in bali. the VR wasn't the same. obviously. you can't replicate the smell of incense or the heat. but the SPATIAL information? the ratios? that translated. and that's the part i think actually matters on a psychological level.

so my question is โ€” if AI can extract the sacred math from physical spaces and let people experience it anywhere, is that legit practice or is it like eating a vitamin instead of a meal? you're getting the nutrient but missing... something.

i don't know. my brain is doing that thing where it connects too many dots. but i keep thinking about it. the tower card keeps coming up in my readings lately too which is annoying.

anyone else tried VR sacred spaces? did it feel real or like a gimmick

"the proportions hit different when you're inside them. like your body KNOWS."

Okay this line really got me because I think about this stuff constantly in my day job actually. I'm a graphic designer and we obsess over grids, ratios, spacing โ€” but it's all flattened onto a screen. You never get the bodily experience of it. So when you said your body knew before your conscious mind caught up, that clicked.

I don't do VR and I've never been to a Hindu temple, but I've had similar moments just walking into old churches here in Chengdu or even some of the traditional architecture. There's this one place near Wide and Narrow Alleys that's built in a really specific older style and the moment you step inside, something shifts. The ceiling height relative to the floor width, I don't know. It's like the space is designed to make you feel a certain way and you can't unfeel it once you notice.

Your Tower card take is interesting and I keep going back and forth on it. At first I thought nah, that's too literal, the Tower is about ego and illusion breaking down, not literally about bad architectural proportions. But then I thought about it more and honestly? Maybe Jung would actually be into that reading. The archetype manifests at every level โ€” psychological AND material. If sacred geometry works on your nervous system, then geometry that's "off" would create a kind of psychic unease. A structure that feels wrong before you can articulate why. That's basically what an ego structure built on false foundations would feel like from the inside, right?

The vitamin vs. meal metaphor is perfect though and I think that's exactly what it is. You're getting the spatial data, the ratios, but none of the context that makes it sacred. No community, no ritual, no incense smell anchoring it in your body's memory. I keep a dream journal these days and I've noticed symbols only gain power through repetition and personal association โ€” it's not just the image, it's what you bring to it. A VR temple might give you the skeleton but you have to supply the flesh yourself, and most people won't know how to do that.

I'm honestly jealous you got to experience it though. Even if it was incomplete.
