I’ve been chasing telluric energy for years, and I’m done pretending it’s just vibes

I’m a marketing manager, so I’m allergic to vague claims. I’m not going to sugarcoat this. Telluric currents are real, but they’re not what most people in my friend group think they are. Telluric currents are natural electric currents moving through Earth’s crust, driven by things like lightning and geomagnetic activity. That part is physics. Where it gets messy is when people start treating every underground hum, cold stone, or weird headache as proof that the planet is feeding them “energy” because they’re spiritually aligned.
I got there the slow way. A few years ago I was doing a month-long backpacking stretch through parts of Asia, mixing ashram stays, monastery visits, and cheap guesthouses. One night I was sitting in a cave-like meditation space near a river, and the whole floor felt dense under me. Not magical dense. Heavy. Like the air had pressure in it. I immediately thought, “Okay, this is earth current. This is the telluric stuff.” Then, five minutes later, I thought, “You’re an eager 21-year-old with a journal full of half-remembered retreat quotes.”
Both were true, in a way. The floor was heavy because of the cave, the river, the humidity, and my own brain looking for meaning. The telluric stuff was real in the background, but it wasn’t the main event.

“I’m done pretending it’s just vibes”
I’d push back: sometimes the vibe is the data. The cave’s density wasn’t a clean telluric-current reading, but my nervous system registering pressure, humidity, and history in a way no instrument captures. That’s not magic; it’s the body keeping its own logs.
