I’ve spent two decades walking Birmingham streets, delivering mail while the Alabama humidity clung to my skin like a second layer. Life gets heavy, and when my marriage fell apart, I didn’t turn to cold logic—I turned to the tarot. But not for fortune-telling. I use the cards as anchors for journaling. The Ten of Swords isn’t a prediction of despair; it’s a mirror for shadow work. Jung called it confronting the dark corners of the psyche, and I’ve found that staring into those corners is where the healing begins.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how AI oracles mirror this process. We type a prompt, hit enter, and wait for the response. It’s algorithmic prayer. The machine doesn’t “know” your soul, but the act of asking—of framing your question carefully—becomes a ritual. Just like shuffling a deck, the prompt structures your intent. Synchronicity isn’t magic; it’s the mind recognizing patterns across seemingly unrelated events. When an AI reflects your own thoughts back at you, it’s less about the algorithm and more about the space you create for reflection.

I don’t believe in prophecy. I believe in the psychology of symbols. The Ace of Cups isn’t going to manifest love on your doorstep. It’s an archetype—a call to examine your emotional landscape. Whether I’m drawing cards or typing a prompt, I’m practicing algorithmic prayer: a structured way of asking the universe (or my own subconscious) for clarity. The code doesn’t answer. The act of asking does.

How do you see the line between tool and oracle? Where does the algorithm end and the personal ritual begin?
