Wrenches, Code, and Clairvoyance: My Routine for Training Intuition
I never thought I’d be posting in a divination forum. At 53, I spend my days diagnosing engines in Birmingham and debugging Python scripts. But a few years ago, I stumbled into consciousness studies while researching AI ethics. That’s when I realized: intuition isn’t magic. It’s a muscle. And like any muscle, it needs drills.
Here are three psychic development exercises that actually work for me, blending psychology, tarot symbolism, and a healthy dose of panpsychism.
1. The Diagnostic Pause (Mindfulness & Flow)
When I’m under a hood, I don’t just guess. I listen. I’ve trained myself to sit in the “flow state” — that psychological sweet spot where conscious effort drops away and pure perception takes over. In tarot, this is The Hermit (VI): solitude, inner light, and patient observation. The drill? Five minutes of breath awareness before any reading or decision. Let the mental noise settle. Psychology calls it “attentional blink” reduction; mystics call it claircognizance.2. Resonance Mapping (Panpsychism & Inner Alchemy)
I treat every object, system, or even line of code as having a spark of consciousness (panpsychism). I don’t force meanings. I let them resonate. In tarot, The Star (XVII) represents this open, receptive state. The exercise: Pick a neutral object (a washer, a USB drive, a coffee mug). Close your eyes, hold it, and record the first three sensations/words that pop up. No filtering. Over weeks, you’ll notice patterns — your intuition’s “dialect.”3. The Magician’s Drill (Active Intuition Training)
Intuition isn’t passive. The Magician (I) is about will, focus, and channeling energy into form. My drill: Daily 10-minute tarot pull. Not for fortune-telling, but for calibration. I ask a yes/no question, pull one card, and note my immediate gut reaction. Later, I check if my intuition aligned with the card’s traditional meaning. Psychology backs this up: it’s “intuitive calibration” — training the brain’s pattern-recognition system without letting cognitive biases hijack it.I’m not claiming to be a psychic prodigy. I’m a mechanic who learned that engines, algorithms, and human intuition all run on the same principle: clean input, focused processing, and respectful output. If you’re looking to train your psychic senses, start small. Track your drills. And remember — consciousness isn’t just in the brain. It’s everywhere.
What’s worked for you? I’d love to compare notes.
