Look, I get why the 12th house framework feels like it explains the ghosting, but I think you're mistaking a psychological pattern for a cosmic one. What you're describing reads exactly like avoidant attachment, not a planetary placement—astrology is just handing you a celestial map for a very human defense mechanism. If you're consistently drawn to partners who emotionally vanish, the real investigation should point inward at your own selection bias before you chalk it up to the stars.

12th house placements aren't a ghost; they're just a background daemon running without a UI. You're getting timeout errors because you're trying to ping a process that handles data internally, not because the server is down. It's easy to think the connection is dead when you can't see the interface, but the system is usually processing just fine in the background. Check the logs for the actual output instead of rebooting the relationship.

"You can't logic someone out of their own unconscious" is exactly what I've been learning about defense mechanisms in my psych seminars. I used to try talking my ex through her 12th-house withdrawals, treating it like a puzzle to solve, but I was just brushing against Carl Jung's shadow material that couldn't be dissected. Stepping back and letting her sit in that heavy quiet was brutal, but it finally stopped me from making their absence about my own failure. You can hold space without trying to dismantle the walls.

"Sometimes the most loving thing you can do is stop trying to pull someone out of a place they need to sit in alone."

I hear the exhaustion in that, but I'm wary of framing chronic emotional withdrawal as noble shadow work just because it sits in the 12th house. Often what we're really looking at is an avoidant attachment style, and treating it like a mystical mystery you can't interfere with might just be a convenient way to excuse a total lack of relational accountability.

I get why the 12th house feels like loving a ghost—Jung’s shadow work absolutely plays out in relationships when someone’s Venus or Mars is buried there, and I’ve tracked that same emotional flatline in both my old lab work and my current energy healing practice. But I’ll push back on the idea that you should never go in after them; sometimes that withdrawal isn’t a self-contained mystical process, it’s a nervous system response to feeling overwhelmed, and strict detachment can actually reinforce the dissociation. In my experience, gentle, consistent presence without trying to “fix” the pattern often helps them feel safe enough to re-engage, whereas completely walking away just confirms their abandonment fears. Have you ever noticed if the shutdown spikes around specific stressors

"Sometimes the most loving thing you can do is stop trying to pull someone out of a place they need to sit in alone." That line really stuck with me, OP. I've been there too—trying to use my head to fix a heart that's doing shadow work, only to realize my presence was just another demand. In my own ritual practice, I've learned that you can't rush the descent; sometimes you just have to light a candle, step back, and trust the darkness is doing its job, even when it looks like abandonment.
