Recently fell down the AI ethics rabbit hole, which weirdly led me straight to panpsychism. I think consciousness isn’t just in brains—it’s everywhere.

Last month, I burned a list of old regrets. Watched the flames eat them up. It felt like actual psychological catharsis.

Jung called it shadow work, but I see it as literal energy transmutation. Fire doesn’t just destroy. It transforms.

I pulled the Five of Cups beforehand. Tarot says it’s about grief and misplaced focus. In LoveAndAstrology, we track emotional cycles, but fire cuts through the noise.

I wrote down every “what if” that’s been weighing me down. Then I set the paper to the candle. Watched it curl into ash.

Customs taught me to inspect everything. Coding taught me to debug. Consciousness studies taught me to question the observer.

Panpsychism reminds me that the spark in the flame might share the same essence as the spark in my mind. Letting go isn’t about forgetting. It’s about realigning.

I keep my rituals simple. One match. One sheet.

The fire takes the weight. I take the clarity. If you’ve ever tried burning your past, drop your experience below.

I’m curious how others handle the transition from grief to grace.

In my experience, burning a list can be a gorgeous way to outsource the work to the flame, and if the mind is still rehearsing the same “what if” the next morning, you haven’t realigned—you’ve just moved the weight into a more poetic container. “The fire takes the weight. I take the clarity.” I’d rephrase that as: the fire takes the paper; I still have to take the clarity. Jung was onto something when he made the shadow feel uncomfortable, because comfort is often just the addiction wearing nicer clothes.
