The movement-based route actually showed faster drops in cortisol and ruminative loops. I’m not a researcher, just tracking the patterns from what I read. But it got me thinking about how we treat spiritual practice.

Look, I spend my days swinging a hammer in remote camps, living out of a van, and watching folks use meditation like a personal escape pod. It doesn’t work that way. Anxiety isn’t just a misaligned chakra. It’s often a nervous system bracing against actual material conditions. When you isolate the body from the breath, you risk reinforcing that dissociation. Carl Jung called it the shadow. Stuff we refuse to embody just because it’s uncomfortable.

From a tarot reading perspective, I’ve always seen the difference as Earth versus Air. Hatha yoga grounds you into the Wands suit. It’s kinetic. It forces the body to meet the tension instead of floating above it. Seated meditation leans heavily into Swords. Clever, sharp, but easy to intellectualize into paralysis. I’m not saying one path is “better.” Just that they pull different levers.

So I’m throwing this out to the community. Which route actually moves the needle for you? Are you finding more relief in structured movement or stillness? And more importantly, how do you keep your practice from turning into a coping mechanism that ignores the world outside your mat? DreamSanctum has been pushing this exact conversation lately. I’d love to hear where your nervous system actually settles.
