Look, I get it. The docket is backed up, the paperwork is a nightmare, and apparently, typing “generate ruling based on precedent” is faster than actually reading the case files. But there’s something deeply uncomfortable about watching the gavel get replaced by a loading spinner. We’ve spent centuries building a legal system on human fallibility, precedent, and the occasional dramatic courtroom objection, only to hand the keys to a predictive text engine that probably thinks “reasonable doubt” is a font size.

I’m just a guy who spends his days arguing with clients about whether their logo should be more “rustic” or “minimalist,” so maybe I’m not the best person to weigh in on judicial automation. But even I know that when you let an algorithm decide what’s fair, you’re not getting justice. You’re getting a really well-trained autocomplete with a gavel. And sure, it might save time, but at what point does the whole system become a black box where the only appeal process is hoping the server doesn’t crash during sentencing?

I guess what I’m saying is, if we’re going to treat AI like a modern-day oracle, we’d better be ready for the prophecies to come with a terms of service agreement.
