I know what you're thinking—"Why is the research assistant posting about a tech tool?" But bear with me. My days involve sifting through mountains of data, so I'm naturally obsessed with curation. I stumbled across this concept called KidScreen, a finite YouTube shelf where parents choose exactly what kids see. No algorithm. No infinite scroll. Just a bounded container.

It hit me like a Five of Swords to the chest. We talk a lot here about expanding consciousness, but I've been realizing that containment is just as vital as expansion. When I was deep in my evangelical phase, everything was curated for me. Safe, but suffocating. Deconstruction felt like ripping off the band-aid and diving headfirst into the raw, unfiltered chaos of the internet. I consumed everything to find the truth, and honestly, I just felt fragmented.

This finite shelf mirrors what I'm trying to do with my practice now. Jung described the Shadow—the parts of us we disown or that get projected out. The algorithm acts like a digital Shadow. It feeds on our triggers and fears, keeping us stuck in reactive loops. It doesn't care about our growth; it just wants our attention.

In my experience, setting boundaries is a form of alchemical work. You're transmuting the lead of mindless consumption into the gold of intentional focus. It reminds me of the Hierophant—not the dogmatic version, but the energy of structure and sacred tradition. Structure isn't the enemy of freedom; it's the vessel that makes the magic possible.

I've started treating my meditation and tarot like my own finite shelf. I limit the doom-scrolling and dedicate that time to a deck or breathwork. It's moving the needle for me because I'm reclaiming agency over my inner world instead of letting a machine dictate my emotional state.

How are you all handling the noise? Do you have rituals that create a "finite shelf" for your mind? I'd love to hear what's working for you.

With warmth,
