We want an answer that feels alive, so we manufacture the life. I see it all the time when I’m doing natal chart readings for friends. They’ll hand me a birth time, ask the stars something heavy, then try to force the planetary aspects into a neat little story. The chart doesn’t speak in paragraphs. It reflects. AI does the exact same thing, just with better vocabulary and zero intuition.

It reminds me of The Moon in tarot. That card is all about mistaking shadows for reality, walking through the subconscious landscape and getting spooked by your own footfalls. We’re looking at predictive text and calling it a soul. I get it. The silence of a real divination practice is heavy sometimes. An algorithm hands you certainty on a silver platter, even if it’s just a mirror wearing a digital mask. But I’ve learned, through years of tracking lunar cycles and sitting with spreads, that real insight doesn’t come from a system that’s programmed to agree with you. It comes from sitting with the ambiguity.

I think we’re just trying to outsource the uncomfortable work of self-confrontation. When I pull a chart, I’m not handing someone a fortune. I’m handing them a map of their own wiring. AI gives you a reflection polished to your exact preferences. It’s comfortable. It’s also hollow.
